First hunt of 2011 produces a first.

Hello everyone. Got out for the first hunt of 2011 late due to early spring snow. We had chosen to hunt at the local state park beach, that has been heavily hunted.
Late last year, they did some remodeling and extended the beach up to the store. I had hunted this small section late into the season, and it produced five wheats. This time I chose to use my bigger coil, the 9 x 12. First signal of 2011 rang up as one cent - ten cent which usually means a copper penny or dime. I had dug up to 4, and probed the hole to find the first coin of 2011 - a 1949-D wheat. Not bad to start off the year. About fifteen minutes, and several pull-tabs later, I got a bouncy signal of Iron - Nickel solid at about 3. What arose out of the hole was the 2nd coin of 2011. It was covered with patina, but with rubbing the coin I saw the shape of a buffalo begin to appear. I thought to myself No, no, no... this cant be - Is it? Holy crap it is!! This was my first buffalo nickel and one of my oldest coins to date. Not a bad way to start off the year.
