First Morgan added to my collection

Wish I could say it was added to my collection via the DFX, but with all the snow and -25ºF temp :frozen: that just isn't the case.

I acquired this coin from my Grandfather - his parents held onto it from the day he was born in 1921 - he passed on in 2004.

He was a POW - Japan during WW2 - if anyone is interested in reading a great 50 page story as he tells it, you can do so HERE.

Either way, I am happy to have a Morgan in my small collection. :peace:

Nice Morgan for sure, I love the heft of a big silver coin like that thumbsup01

Then you would truly appreciate the heft of the Silver Eagle.

Picked up an un-circulated 2005 (31.1 grams vs the morgans 26.7 grams)

Thanks for sharing the story. I read all 53 pages and was touched deeply by the strength and determination your grandfather showed in the face of great adversity. Truly a member of the greatest generation.

Love the ASE's. About a month ago I stumbled upon a bank that was selling them for about $10 below silver value :dontknow: and bought all they had in stock. They are nice coins.

Nice Morgan Randy, but the storie was awsome,I read the whole thing threw slowly to get all of the effect...He was an one heck of a guy,I could see him going threw the day to day hell of imcampment,I had a older friend that was on the Batan Death March and survived it too,he described events just like Merle went thru....Thank you for sharing his story,I will let my wife read it too,Take care,Dave

Yep that one will be great to pass on as it already has some history to it with your family, the ones you find are only on the first generation starting from the person who found it.
