Went to a spot that had the house knocked down. The dirt had been moved around and new fill added. I thought would find nothing. After 2 hours of digging clad I heard what sounded like a good coin. Down about 6 inches was a coin. I thought it must be a Washington.
But when I looked a little closer it was a 1876 quarter. First coin of this type for me. SCAN0009.JPGSCAN0008.JPG

Wow! Congrats on your first Seated Quarter! :thumbsup02: :clapping: What a terrific find! They certainly don't turn up too often.

I see that yours has an "S" mint mark too. Coincidentally, I have found three Seated Quarters and all three are 1876-S as well.

Good job at being persistent in that yard and finding a bucket list coin! :congrats:

Set up a new program in the etrac. Made a screen that takes in nickels in the 12-12 - 13 range. Takes in Gold rings at 4-8 CO, and accepts ranges in the 12-17FE and 29 Plus CO. Reject all the rest. I could hear the Quarter among the trash with the 8x6 SEF on my e-trac

Knocked off the following on my bucket list for 2015:

1853-0 Half dime
1875 seated dime
1900 Barber dime
1822 half dollar
1928 SLQ
1945 War nckel
1900 Vnickel
2 Gold rings (never found one before)

Bucket list got a lot smaller this year.

Great find and congrats! Man those seated coins are hard to come by in general so I can visualize your excitement. Personally I don't mess around with bucket lists, but that's a coin anyone would love to have. Keep it up.
