I headed out to the woods near my home this morning. The area has been producing some real old coins, as far back as the 1850's. First target was the 1958 plate tag. Cool. Then after walking a bit I hit a nice hot spot and found three coins.
First I found the 1951 Canadian penny. I was surprised because the VDI was bouncing from the 70's to up real high in the 90's. I knew these pennies don't ring up that high, so before putting back the dirt I checked the hole and got a solid 91. I brushed away the dirt at the bottom of the hole and a sweet silver rim was poking out!!

About a foot away I got a good nickel signal. This one was right below the surface as you can see it sitting on top of the Lesche. I figured it would be a Jeff but it was a Buffalo! happydance02 I can't make out the date though.
I also got some other cool finds, including a bus token, an old gauge, a US Army button, and the usual trash. The button says Newark, NJ on the back but I can't make out the company name on the top. Any help? It's smaller than a dime.
