Found this button wondering if its military? Civil war?

hey Rusthunter , it is a military button (a general service coat ) often called civil war era but the real truth is they were used from around the 1850's to the Spanish American war 1898 . the markings on the back will narrow it down as sometimes the eagle on the front can vary from one decade to another .

I have not tried cleaning it yet but can not see any type of marking on the back.

As Dan already stated it does have a broad range on dating it.Very nice button and it is in good condition.
