Hi all

Not strictly a metal detecting find but i purchased some jewellery from a lady and in the box was this ring.
The story she told me was locally there was a WW2 US base and in the 60's it was demolished and the land used by a local farmer and when he ploughed it she used to play on the field and help move the rubblw for the farmer she saw this ring poking though the mud

Would yo be able to tell me is it a confederate ring and is it real or a copy

Hi roxy1dog :waving: Looks like a Confederate (Confereate States of America) emblem, but never seen it in a ring. Pretty cool find  Where did you come across this thing? I tried pulling up Old Confederate Rings on line, but I am limited on viewing on my computer here at work. Good luck on I.D. and good hunting to ya, thumbsup01 Eric

I'm no expert on such items, but it looks authentic to me. It seems to have the right kind of imperfections to it.

Very interesting ring! Thanks for sharing it here!

i've never seen a C.S.A. ring before and it looks good , too good if you know what i mean . it looks like a good fake or novelty item to me , i'll ask some good people i know who are more knowledgeable about Civil War items and get back to this post or pm you
roxy1dog. in the meantime the coins from the beach and rinds are great it looks like a very productive beach , what machine are you using??

Dan

the complete verdict isn't all in yet Roxy1dog but the general consensus so far is that it may be a novelty or fantasy piece and not authentic . let me hear from a few more gents and i'll pm you when i hear more.

Dan
