I have no idea about the stamped metal coin-like thingy, but the Star Pin is a year pin from the Cub Scouts. The number on the star indicates how many years the wearer has been in the Cub Scouts. (In this case, one year.)

Thanks everyone!! I have not been able to find anything on that pendant that kinda' looks like a large cent. Still gonna' research. I found it less than 3 feet away from where I found the 1798 LC and about the same depth.
