I have no idea what this is, Do you?

I dug this at an 1870s house Saturday. It came out of the ground folded and crunched up.
Does anyone have any idea what it might be?
I added the penny to one photo for size comparison.
THANKS

Woodmen of the World is a fraternal organization that uses the axe, maul, and wedge as their symbols. Perhaps this is part of a belt buckle? Either that Don or the top part of a henway.

Thats a great suggestion Dave that i would go along with an applied belt buckle piece .
