IH's, Rosies, V plus a WLH

Finally my morning coffee was greeted by sunshine out the kitchen window early this morning. :smitten:
We have had cold, gray and rain weather this last week here in my part of Iowa.

Today the forecasters promised a mix of sun and clouds. :happydance01: So off we went to search three different sites today.
One I wanted to 'check again' from 2011/2012 and two more Ron discovered from winter research.

The first spot up for the day was the site I was pushing for. This ground gave up many keepers in 2011 and 2012.
Unfortunately we have most of the oldies fished out here, but I did manage to get my coil over IH (1880 & 1888), a V plus the bonus '64 Rosie.

Next stop was a new park Ron found. Only Wheat Cents came up for us in the hour we searched.

Last site was an old fairgrounds Ron hunted five years ago with his previous detector. He wanted to give it a try with his Minelab.
This visit produced a pair of Mercs and several Wheats for him, plus some Wheat cents, Rosie and my first WLH of 2013 for me. :happydance01:

We are planning a return, full day, trip here soon. After a conversation on the phone tonight... a great friend confirmed the area we
pulled silver from, was in fact, the midway of the fair. Thank you. :)

thats a good start to your new season..congrats on the walker! there were several halves dug today, i even managed to stumble onto a benjie myself

Very nice, Joe! :clapping:

Great finds and a beautiful photo of them, as always!

A couple of nice looking older Indian Heads there.

And it's always thrilling to pull a nice big silver half out of the ground!

:congrats:

Looks like you had a fun day, :congrats: on the silver. Those indians are in great shape, looks like rain most of the next week and cool temps. I'm hoping to make it out and try to get a indian for myself, they have eluded me this year so far. Just looked out side....snowed a bit out last night >:# so temps are a little low to get out this morning before the rain sets in for the day.

Congrats on the great finds! Yeah, those sunny days have been hard to come by so far this spring!

Amazing digs! Those Indian Heads have an great patina! Most of the few I find are cruddy and corroded. And that big silver is something else altogether! Big congrats!

Don't know how I missed this post but it is a doosey! Congrats on a nice assortment of early coins. I like the toning of that V nickel too. Best wishes and HH, Dave.
