Just saying Hello...

Hello all and thank you for letting me join the forum.

I am fairly new to metal detecting as I just started in April of 2010.

My fascination with MDing was discovered as a teenager when my father and I built a radio shack detector from a kit. I discovered many items back in the 70s including silver spoons and a standing liberty quarter.

Fast forward to today. I have had the urge to try the hobby again. I first purchased a ACE 350. Boy can it find coins. I quickly topped $100 in clad and was having fun. I then joined my local MDing club and discovered that it was more of a challenge and adventure into discovering older coins. The hunt is on. Research has become fun as well.

To improve my chances, I upgraded to an etrac in October and have been having a blast. Since I started, I have discovered over $150 in clad, 38 wheaties, 1 indian head, 5 rosies, 1 merc, and 2 silver washingtons. I have also found 8 rings but only 2 were silver and the rest junk. My indian head penny is my oldest coin at 1905. I look forward to learning from everyone.

Hello Dan and welcome to AD from Mississippi. Looking forward to your post and finds. HH

Welcome to the forum, Dan from Indiana! What part of Indiana are you in?

Your story sounds similar to mine. I detected in the 1980s fairly regularly, then took a break from the hobby to persue other interests from 1999-2010. Last year I realized how much I missed metal detecting and bought an E-Trac in March of 2011.

Like Ill Digger says, you will do extremely well with an E-Trac in Indiana. I have had a blast with mine! Keep us posted on your progress!

Welcome from western MA. You are gonna find that there is a lot of helpful and knowledgeable folks on this forum. That etrac is a silver magnet and looking forward to your posts.

You have a nice resume there. Hope to see many posts from you soon. I put about 150 hours on the ace 350 before getting the T2. The only problem I had with it was the weight out front. But that must feel like feathers compared to the etrac. :groovy:

Hi dperrott, thank you for taking the time to join our corner of cyberland. :clapping:
It's great to have you here with us and I am looking forward to your finds with the E-Trac. :->
Looks like you are off to a great start.

Welcome Dan from SE Wisconsin. I liked your story, it doesn't take much to get hooked big time on this great hobbie. Good Luck and HH in 2012.

From the sound of it you already have a leg up on most new detectorists. Welcome and I hope that we will be able to provide any help that you may need. thumbsup01
