Lead Washer Thingy

Went out after work for a two hour hunt at an old park in town and found only $.46 in clad, a 1942 wheatie and this lead washer with a #4 on it. Just curious on what it could be. It was found within 10 yards of where I had found my 1852 half dime earlier in the year, so I though it might be a tad on the older side. It's about the size of a half dollar. Thanks and HH hunting, Eric

Dennis is correct, it is a curtain weight. They were sewn to the bottom of stage curtains. I often find them around schools.

Hey Tony, I found one just like that at that first school we hunted on our road trip. Bugger was 11 inches deep!

I've found a few of those but never one with a number . Mine will eventually get sold with the other lead I have .
Nice find , they do sound great . thumbsup01

they were better known as hem weights used to sew in hems of skirts and dresses to keep the wind from blowing them up and they came in all different sizes and shapes.
