Less tough weekend, and scratched another silver off the list.

Saturday was drippy early, so did some chores and hit the button field permission I got in late December now that it's dried up a bunch. Zip, zilch, nada in 2 hours or so. Couple random scraps of tin.

Sunday I hit the farm field again, and worked the area that produced last week. Dug the usual crunk, but got more goodies, including a couple items off the list. My 1'st ox knob (thought I was digging my 1'st copper), and my 1'st silver quarter. A 61, nothing fantastic. The button is plain, with a back mark. Scovills/extra rich. 1827-1840.
The lock and latch plate is cool, no idea what it would have been on. The domed item with two ribs looks like maybe the top half of a socket off a ball joint maybe? Or space junk.

And the last two pics are what I think might be a small cast pewter cuff button maybe? The back, and a profile. The top is just plain.

Nice digs! That lock and latch plate is an interesting piece. Looks pretty hefty. Not sure about the pewter button thingy :thinkingabout:

I've not found many silver quarters....they sure are pretty in the hole though. I'd guess I've only found three or four Washingtons, a Barber, and a seated. That's it.
"Space junk" :lol:
Those blasted ox knobs do sound similar to coppers. :bummer: But have faith, where there's knobs, there's coppers! :clapping:

:cheering: woooo hoooooo !!!!! :cheering:

First ox knob !!!!:bananadance::bananadance:

Sorry Brian , after you find your first one you'll wished you never find another again the next time you find one :lol::lol: they will fool you every time. congrats on it and the silver quarter !

I can't take credit for the term space junk Drew. It sure looks like one though. :lol: Here's an inside pic of it. I think that ribbed slot may be where a u-bolt would have held a ball joint together maybe?

[Edit] Thank you Dan! That plate my quarter is sitting on is copper, and gave me another small heart attack at 6 inches. Sigh....

Bri, congrats on two firsts, especially that silver quarter. Enough has been said about ox knobs, may that be your only one....:lol:
