Louisiana says hello

Hello,

Brand new member, soon to enter the hobby. I'm living in southeast Louisiana, northwest of New Orleans and due west of Baton Rouge. I've got lots to learn and have been reading all I can about the hobby and trying to sort out my first detector. I have narrowed my search for my first detector to the Teknetics Eurotek Pro. I was leaning hard to the AT Pro, because of the amount of water we have in the area but I believe the Eurotek Pro might be a better started detector. Not sure what coil to choose, would the 11" DD coil be a better choice than the 8" concentric? Also is either of these coils waterproof? OK, if anyone has any feedback, suggestions, or comments I'm all ears.

Welcome from western MA. I have seen an awful lot of great finds made with the AT Pro, don't know much about the other choice. I would lean to AT Pro because of the waterproof capabilities. Looking forward to your future finds and watch out for the addiction...
 
Hello from Washigton state. I went with the AT Pro only because we have a lot of water here too. Whatever you choose, welcome to the site and good luck hunting!
 
Welcome aboard from western MA. Good luck hunting when you do get out. Be patient, dig, dig, dig and learn from each target what the machine is telling you. Like aloldstuff said...watch out for the addiction of metal detecting. It can become a life long hobby. A great stress release too. I think there are a couple of folks here that have that machine and hopefully they will see your post.
 
Welcome to the forum Randy , all coils are water proof unless they have been abused and then they can crack and let water in . I've heard good things about both detectors although i'm not really familiar with either , sorry. The only advice I have is to really do your homework on both and weigh in the pros and cons of the features of each and which are more helpful to your type of detecting you will be doing.Theres quite a few members here with the ATpro so you can get some answers on this one pretty easy.I glad you joined up.:yes:

Welcome, Randy, from Kasey in Georgia. I'm new at detecting, having just started in November, but I can tell you, it is very addicting. I am always looking for my next hunt! I've learned alot in the few months I've been doing this, and most of the learning credit goes to this forum and it's very fine bunch of members. They are always here to help. Your machine, whatever you choose, will be your next best teacher. Good luck and can't wait to see your first finds and more!
