Matron Head and lead

Lodge Scent

Went out scouting this morning looking for a new site but no cellar hole to be found. Just stock fields. But I decided to detour and hit a near by cellar hole site that I hadn't been to in years. This place was pounded in the past but I hoped to be able to sniff something out of the iron trash. I don't think I was there two minutes when I was surprised to get a decent signal and was more surprised to see this 1818 LC come out of the ground.

I said to myself, "this is too easy". And it was because over the next hour and a half it was just a couple of buttons and a lot of lead.

The early morning sun caught this web.

Actually flicked a couple of deer ticks off me. All it took was the rain we had last week to get the little *&^*$#@% active.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape Jeff! Today was a beautiful day...wish I was able to get out. Love the shoe

Another very nice coin! It's been horrendous here in the Midwest with the mosquito infestation due to the rain the past several weeks. I feel you pain!

very resourceful Jeff , I like the matron head cent and looks to be in good shape too . The weather is about perfect to be in the woods. congrats sir !

Always good to get a coin early in the hunt to get the monkey off your back! We should all send our ox shoes to Drew:lolsign:

Thanks Gents! You know, I actually don't mind digging ox shoes.....At least I don't cuss when I dig one like I do when I dig a bottle cap.

very true , I almost know when i'm digging an ox shoe but bottle caps are just enough to sound pretty good .

Nice Matron, Jeff. Some sites are like that. Just an easy target that everyone else missed, but all the others they nabbed. It's happened to me often.
