Howdy fellow diggers!
On my recent trip to Germany, I dug a serious bucket lister! A medieval battle axe that dates to the 9th or 10th century! It's also called a bearded axe, and they are commonly found in northern Europe and Scandinavia. Some call them Nordic axes or Viking axes, but they are all basically the same. I wonder how many skulls this one met! You can see where the hardened steel was overlayed onto the cutting edge. Amazing blacksmithing!
