Miss Liberty Shines on Presidents Day!!

Ill Digger

I managed to get out and do a little detecting over the weekend. Saturday nothin' but some clad and a couple of junk rings. Sunday we hooked up with Mike Silverstar to hunt a couple of football fields. We hunted the fields for about 5 hours. I managed to get $5.23 in clad. As the sun was setting and the temperatures were dropping, it looked as if the dreaded SDHOS would be taking place crying01 As I was digging a hole Ted asked Are you ready to get out of here?. I said I am now! From about 8 inches I pulled up a bent and mangled silver ring! :happydance01:
I managed to straighten it a little, actually... ALOT! lol

The mark that saved me from the SDHOS |)

Monday, Presidents Day, I did some solo huntin'. First I tried a place that I've been meaning to try out each time I go to this certain park. SoI pulled in and hunted that place for about a hour or so. Just some clad, a junk bracelet, and a Canadian penny <;).

So jumped in the truck and went over to the park. First signal was a broken, high pitched 19-47, 21-46  Figuring it would be a nail. But I could get it in 2 directions...so I dug it :dontknow: Nothing in the initial hole but the pin pointer was picking up a signal in the bank. I dug out the side of the hole and threw the dirt on top of my towel and pin pointer. The pin pointer started to scream immediately :shocked01: As I picked up my pin pointer from underneath the dirt this popped up to the surface! [attachimg=2]

I was stunned to see a 1945 Walking Liberty come to the surface!

A short while later I got a squeaky, broken 19-45 in 2 directions again. First I pulled out a small bent nail. I re-checked the hole and there was still something down there. I had to cut out a small root and a little more soil to get at the target. As I threw the dirt on the towel I seen this <:

Finally gettin' over to the other side of the field I almost missed a perfect 12-45/46 at 5 inches :smitten:
Digging down I see this thumbsup01

So all in all it was a good weekend  thumbsup01

Thanks Al! <} I thought he looked a little  ...... funny too! lol But thanks to Tony (Bell-Two) I now know that thats a &quot:beerbuddy:rownies ring!! :shocked04: :peace: <: Just a few days before I found it a buddy and I were talking the scout rings we've found. We each have a cub scout ring. He has a Girl Scout ring, and I have a Boy Scout ring. So we were tied at 2 a piece. I said I would have a hard time finding a Girl Scout ring to complete my collection. We didn't even know there was such a thing as a Brownies silver ring! :dontknow: So I gotta give a Tony a super big thanks for IDing the ring for me! This is just another example of why I love our members here at AD! |) :smitten:

Yeah, Bell Two filled me in on it's history. thumbsup01 Again thanks Tony! |) I see they've been making them since around the 20' & 30's but the design/ style has changed a little over the years. I just can't nail it's era for sure. But ours look to be of the newer style. So what! I love it! :smitten:
Thanks for the comment Z
