mod.. a dx1 too be a hand held?

I have a broken dx1 probe and I would like to modify it so that I can use it as a hand held probe. Had anyone done this? Any tips to get it done?
 
Interesting project. Keep in mind that the probe is simply a very small coil with an AB switch. It contains no electronics or means to power it. Keep us updated on your progress. Where there is a will there is a way. :cool:
 
I agree with Cybersage.

&quot:beerbuddy:roken may be something as easily repaired as a bad AB switch or a broken wire. If it were me, I'd contact Sunray about sending it in for a checkup.

Sunray is a pretty good outfit and may be able to put you back up and running for a relatively small charge.

I have three DX-1's and love 'em.
