Museum event leads to surprise findings!

Hi all,
Just recently got back from a members only after hours event at the museum where we got to see special displays not normally seen by the public, plus the opportunity to speak with curators and staff.
So I had the great opportunity to not only meet the curator who specializes in Milwaukee and Wisconsin history, I got to sit and chat with him for quite some time. He was able to clarify a few questions I had about local history, and we even argued a few fine details. But the real fun was when I pulled a couple of my finds out and for him to try and identify. One item had him stumped, but the lead pipe bowl I found he confirmed was almost certainly 1850ish.
The biggest surprise i got was when I asked about a pin I found with the rose and cross. I was sure it had something to do with the Knights Templars or Rosicrutians who had assemblies in the 1920s timeframe at the site I found the pin. Turns out, he thinks it's actually from some kind of ladies auxiliary, but the style is later half 1800s!

That's pretty cool! I've not seen that pin before. When did you find it? It's stunning!

That was a neat treat! I bet he would've liked some of the civil war store cards or tokens! (I think you found one or two?)
But any chance to talk to a expert in local history would be a real treat!

The pin is a beautiful piece , the conversations I had with the military historian and lead archaeologist from the museum I worked for was some of the best perks to that job.
