My first Colonial Hunt for 2013

Hello all...

I got out tonight to a state land site with a few cellar holes on it... I wandered back the road 1/4 to 1/2 mile from one site and looked down a trail to the right... Swing swing... button... swing swing... button... hmmm... swing swing... cuff link piece...

There is an indentation there that does not look natural but I can't imagine this was a home site... Some iron, but I recovered all of the buttons in a 20 foot circle..

I went through the indent and got a nice 44 @ 2 on the other side...

Nice digs! I guess the lesson to get out of this is that it doesn't have to be a classic looking cellar hole site in order to find the goods. I will be paying more attention for those types of sites :yes:

very nice finds Paul , unfortunately i'm unable to id the Connecticut out of the 241 different varieties of the 1787 at the moment . the pewter button looks to be just a designed one as it doesn't seem like a familiar pattern i've come across yet. congrats on finding a hot spot for treasures.

Dan, thank you... I only have 110 varieties in my book and parts of this coin match a bunch, but overall... I could not ID it either...

I went back to this spot for 3.5-4 hours... and ZIPPO :-(
