My first Massachusetts State Copper!

Got out yesterday with Danny LaMontagne for some Colonial Cellar Hole Digging. It was a beautiful day and I found my first Massachusetts State Copper, dated 1787, with my White's MXT Pro! I also found a very ornate shoe buckle fragment and a very unusual, unfinished, child's size shoe buckle. You can see the flashing around the edges which was not removed. The small buckle was 10 inches down and the MXT Pro sniffed it out! I was using my new Detech 5" x 10" coil and I love it!20170508_134611.jpg20170508_134658.jpg20170508_130838.jpg20170508_130738.jpg20170508_131158.jpg

Yes, it is my third State Copper! I found a Connecticut in January, the New Jersey in April and the Massachusetts in May! I owe it all to Danny LaMontagne for taking me under his wing and teaching me how to find colonial relics. Not to mention, taking me to sites where I can find history.

Very cool find, congrats! You're luckier than most to have Dan as your wingman. Looks like you are doing great. Keep up the good work!

I am truly very lucky but it's the other way around, because, at best, I would be Dan's wing man. I have watched him and there is no one better at finding the goodies at Colonial cellar holes. I swear that sometimes his DFX gets so hot it starts smoking. There is also no one better at finding those elusive sites out deep in the woods. It is my pleasure to watch him work. I love it when he looks at me with that grin and says, "I've got a screamer over here." That usually means it's a buckle or a nice colonial coin.

Super huge find. Congrats on getting your 3rd state copper, and it's a MASS cooper to boot....:envious:. I think I have seen more GW buttons posted than MASS coppers. You've got a great mentor in Dan. Your having a great year, keep it up. :thumbsup02:

Donnie you had a great day ! I'm glad we went back to that site , I only wished there were a couple of other sites out there . 4 coins ain't bad from a hit site the briars save a couple of good ones for us ! congrats on that Massachusetts copper !:clapping:

I got lucky Danny. I stuck my coil in those briars and got a screamer. I still have a hunch that there's another site out there. Maybe, this winter we can scout it out. Can you believe we found four coins there and only one button? I got a great idea. I will hire a guy with a sickle to cut briars while we detect. Let's go back again! There's more goodies in those briars. There's a piece of Spanish Silver for me and a Massachusetts Half Cent for you!

The close ups, under magnification, are not that good. The coin has some porosity on the obverse which is why I backed up on my shots. I will try to get some better ones tomorrow.
That is one good looking coin Donnie....maybe a close up??:clapping:

I took a couple of close ups this morning of my Massachusetts Copper. Thank you again, Danny LaMontagne. Dreams do come true!18423926_10209067938599233_2798472856822450521_n.jpg18425250_10209067938439229_6112956821165597566_n.jpg
