need help on coin

i belong to several forums and on one someone told me the 1942 d merc could be a double die and that the 2012 redbook had it listed at 675 and up does anybody know about these dennis

The 42-D had a double die 2 over 1. Its hard to see from your photo if that's the case with yours. Can you zoom in on the date and post another pic?

with the condition of your merc you would be able to see the 2 over the 1 very easy
I don't believe yours is a 2 over 1 but take it to a coin dealer and make sure.

i have no idea i was told by someone on another forum that he was 99% sure that ir was a double die i do not have any idea what that is thanks for the help dennis
