Welcome aboard and hope to see your posts.
My mom and dad and I lived in Chiavari for two years, and I went to elementary school there during that time.
We moved back to the states.
I have many great memories from there like holiday festivities, and visiting the Colosseum.
As you can see, we both like some of the same detector brands.
It’s a shame that both Whites and Tesoro are no longer in business.

Good morning everyone, I've been using various metal detectors: the XLT, the DFX, and the TDI SL a lot lately. I also have a Minelab Explorer II with a telescopic rod, an XP Deus 2, a Tesoro Silver Umax, and a C.Scope 990XD. I'm looking for militaria and coins. In Italy, there are strict laws that prohibit archaeological sites or areas of cultural and landscape interest, and if you find anything significant, you must report it to the Superintendency. Authorization is only required for searching for militaria in specific regions where WWI was fought. I was truly saddened that both Whites and Tesoro went bankrupt, they made wonderful metal detectors. Twenty years ago, it was easier to import used metal detectors and coils from the United States. Unfortunately, the costs are now very high due to taxes and duties, so no purchases.

Yes, it was painful to lose two of the major metal detector manufacturers. And I think others will follow.

I was always under the impression that a permit for metal detecting is generally required in Italy. It goes without saying that cultural finds must be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Yes, import duties make it difficult to snag a bargain on used equipment, but such deals do exist. You just have to keep a close eye on the market.

Looking forward to see some of your favorite finds here and get some help on detector settings maybe.

To answer your question, I'm currently using Goldxtra TGX. Nothing too fancy but it seems like a good starter machine while I learn the ropes.

Still getting to grips with it but enjoying the process.

Which one is your favourite to use?

Hey Arthur.
I’ve never heard of that device before.
But as long as it can locate items in the ground for you and you’re happy with your finds, then everything is fine.
Personally, I’m currently using my two Tesoros.
They offer good depth and excellent discrimination.
The Bandido II also features manual ground balancing.
Plus, thanks to their light weight, I can hunt with them all day.
What are your preferred targets?

Right now I'm mainly hoping for old coins and maybe some jewelry, but honestly, I get excited about anything interesting since I'm still learning.
