Looking to do some underwater. Have done some dirt digging in the past, but nothing to write home about.

Hello from Iowa and welcome to American Detectorist relic49. Glad to have you here with us. :clapping:
With the current heat wave and drought we are having in Iowa, I'm starting to think about the water thing along the Mississippi.

Let us know how you do on your next hunt.

Thanks, will do. Still haven't decided on a machine yet for underwater. Hoping to get some insight here. Considering a Minelab Excalibur II, possibly a 15 WOT coil.

Welcome from Mississippi, welcome to the forum. I have a brother who lives in the Woodlands. I have heard of detectorist having good luck at Lake Conroe. Looking forward to your post and finds.

Thanks, Cody. I'm in the far southeast corner of Houston, about 14 miles from Nassau Bay. Lake Conroe is about an hour and a half drive from here but will check it out.

Welcome from western MA. Hope your underwater venture works out for you. We have several lakes in te next town over and I have always though that there has to be some serious gold at the bottom of those lakes. One item I know for sure, my wifes $500 bracelet............. :crying02:

Welcome from Kentucky! :) Are you planning to hunt coast or creeks/swimming holes?

I tried some shallow water hunting recently, first time at an old swimming hole extremely popular in the 20's, and really enjoyed it. I did find it time-consuming, was extremely careful not to get my V3i wet thus stuck close to the bank. I used a 5 gallon drywall bucket that my hubby drilled holes in the bottom and on one side- it worked great. Used a shovel for the rocks (hard work moving big rocks out of the way). All I found was clad and trash, but boy it sure felt good to wade in the creek in 100 degree weather! A great way to hunt when the ground is too dry to dig.

Welcome from Illinois! Glad to have you here!

Best of luck with your underwater venture! Be sure to keep us posted on your progress!
