Newly discovered homesite did not disappoint

Hi all,

Wrapping up my metal detecting holiday week this week - out a total of five days (Sun, and Tue-Fri). I was able to hit a number of older fields and one colonial yard, and got on some solid stuff, pics of which I'll be sharing in the coming days. First off shown here are finds from a newly discovered homesite my good friend Joe from @greenmountaindiggers and I stumbled upon this past Tuesday. We went back for half a day on Thursday to mop up. We dug a total of 16 coins from this site, all pre-1870. The thick clay in this area of the lower Champlain Valley preserves coins really well, but it's tough digging for sure. My two day haul was 9 coppers and a '62 Fatty IH. A few of the Matrons are in excellent condition, so a good mineral oil soak is in store for a few of them, followed by a light Ren Wax buff with the Dremel. Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone. That's just one homesite for the week! Haha. I'll lump all the rest in one other post. And no Drew - the ground has been thawed for about 3 weeks up here now.
