No Grand Slam today

Went hunting with Del today. It seems like we never get out much this year. Went to a cellar hole we did earlier and had some good success at. We worked that site hard today lol But my hopes for a grand slam in coppers was not to be. I can't believe I missed it because I got TWO classic head coppers  I never get those. I did get the 4 coppers today, a 1802 Draped Bust, Connecticut copper, and the 1810, 1812 Classic Heads. I thought one of them was a Matron Head, but not to be. The coppers are shot, but if you try real hard you may see something on them discs :girlcry: The Connecticut is off struck by about 10% or so. Rounded out the hunt with some nice relics. It felt good to get out for a long day in the woods.

Oh My Gosh! How many four copper days have you had? Have you ever had a grand slam? Classics are rare.
Are you able to date many CT coppers? I haven't been able to date one yet...out of 20. :hairpulling:
I hope you missed the rain. Congrats on a great day!

Not in the 4 coppers, I'll take that any day lol But missing the grand slam because of the (most abundant) Matron Head copper is a bummer. I once missed a grand slam in dimes...the culprit? The Roosevelt dime :hairpulling: Had the Seated, Barber, Merc. 8/

Thanks Steve thumbsup01

Umm Dan? Where's the Beef? lol You had a pretty good day yourself today.

ya need to give him a good ole fashioned elbow to the ribs Angie! and here I thought these 2 knuckleheads retired  sweet hunt G!

the ol' DFX was working very well and the buttons were hitting hard just didn't pass the coil over as many coins as Coinnut today :girlcry: but i did out do him on the buttons :teasing:. my only copper was an extremely worn and possibly counterfiet George II half penny . these usually ring up as a +79 or 80 on the dfx but this one was a solid +66 in the hole and only a +69 out  . I can barely make out the young head image for a bust so it has to be 1729 to 39 , I'll take it happydance02 I hit 11 and 2/3 buttons with only one nice machine etched fancy large tombac that almost rang out as a copper at 8 inches. then i hit an odd elongated brass shaped heart piece with very heavy silver plating the attachments on the back are broken so i'm not sure if it was a decorative horse leather piece or possibly a brooch or pin of somekind :dontknow: shortly after and about three steps away i hit a scratchy irony target at 5 inches and out popped up a nice silver plated colonial knee buckle (whats with me and silver or silver plated items this year )
other items shown are an old rusty knife blade , crotal bell fragment , a broken shoe buckle frame some lead pieces and a silver rosie and some plain colonial cuff links :cheering:well worth the mile long hike in and out , happy hunting .

Dan
