now thats a lock !!!

went back to the place i found a ct copper about a month ago and although there is nothing to show a house used to be there i am begining to think there was.
its located at the bottom of a sleading hill that has been used as such for at least 100 years.
im finding all sorts of relics, door hinges , face plates , and now this massive lock....this thing weighs a ton !!!! looks old to.
i think its brass and the back is heverly corroded but the latch is still there on the right hand side , any help with dates would be a help .

Great find, I have a small passion for old locks. Could that possibly have gone to a drawer and I say that just because of the loop.

Thats a sweet find! I do believe that it is a drawer lock considering I have found one very similar to yours. As you can see in my pictures, it seems that there is an L on the back of mine and I assume it is L for (left side).I never could find the R side.
