Hello.
I've been wanting to get into this hobby for some time and now that I have the time on my hands, its the perfect opportunity. I hope to have a MD by the time frost leaves in the spring. Looking forward to reading more of your posts and with a little luck I'll be sharing photos of all my pull tabs.

Welcome, SOD! Glad to have you here! In what part of the world do you reside?

It is a great hobby. I hope you get yourself a detector and are out there finding some goodies come spring.

Tony

Welcome aboard from northern Illinois.
There is a lot to learn here.
You mentioned that you have some time on your hands. Be prepared to find more than some time for this hobby.
Once you get out there and start finding a few things, YOU'RE HOOKED

Welcome from western MA. Looking forward to your future finds. Nice group of folks on here. What type of detector are you looking at?

First I'd like to thank everyone for the warm welcome.
I live in a little ghost town that time forgot up in Clair County. Perhaps one day we can shorten that 100 miles up with a hunt Longhair ?
Dave, Thats the kind of talk I like to hear. This area has lots of old logging, old oil field and old railroad history behind it before it fell, nothing newer then the 60s I believe. Thank you for the encouragement.
Digger Don, I"m an Ole bachelor and have absolutely nothing to do at any given time and no one to answer to. I think the hook gots me by the ankle already. Thanks for the heads up.
Aloldstuff, I've been kicking around the thought of that CTX3030 w/11"DD but I just started looking
and have a lot more to learn before dropping the bucks. I couldn't agree with you more about the folks on this site. I've only been reading the forums for 10 days and not one cross word have I come across.
Thanks Again.

I'd like to get together with you sometime. The distance is more like 150mi (three counties between us), but it's been a while since I've been up that way and I'd like to get to that general neighborhood this year anyhow.

Hello from Washington state! This is a good time of year to do research on the various detectors out there so you'll be ready to buy in the spring. I definitely second what Digger Don said about getting hooked. Once you're in, you're in for the long haul. Good luck!

I'll be looking forward to that Longhair, if you don't mind hanging with a total nu bee.

Hello Shamaniac. Yes I need to buckle down and get back to looking for a MD but its hard to pry myself away from reading all the good finds. I'm stoked and don't even have the tools yet.

Hello :waving: S O D welcome to the forum , hope your staying warm up there with these below freezing temps :frozen: but its a great time to research machines , and places to detect. Best of luck to you on your new hobby.

Dan

Seems like you have a nice area to hunt. I wish you the best of luck when the snow melts and look forward to your posts.

Well Thank you Dan, yes its been a little on the chilly side for the last few weeks but the tropical weather blew in today and made it up 29*.
Thanks OxShoeDrew. I plan on doing some hunting close to home but have my heart set on the East side of the state where one of the first trade route North were.
O, I see Longhair. Well I'm game if you are.
HH & be safe.

Thank you Fire Fighter 43.
I hear your catching some nasty weather over your way. The wind is a killer here today. Thats a nice collection of equipment you have FF. How do you like your CTX 3030?
Thanks KennyD. Ann Arbor, I've pass that way before, its a beautiful Town.

Welcome to a great forum. Good luck on deciding on a detector. I would research for a bit because it is hard looking at mine hanging on the wall waiting for me to take it for a walk. Safe & HH
