Old Silver - Spanish Reale

Yesterday afternoon I joined midas to a local hunt. The site we worked was littered with iron which seemed to be the only available target at that location. We did still find a few odds and ends. I also picked up one Barber quarter.

Today I had intended to stay home and do some yard work, but the day was too beautiful to not take advantage of a few hours detecting. This afternoon I headed to CT to work one of the parks. The park was busy with folks playing sports or just enjoying their time out, but I was able to work one area without much disturbance, at least until late in the day when teens showed up with their ATV's and bikes. It was time to leave anyway and I had already made several nice finds.

My best find of the day was an old silver piece, a 1764 Spanish Reale.

Here it is while still encased in soil.

This was another good find, a dateless type I Standing Liberty quarter.

And here are photos of a 1923 mercury dime and 1940 Washington quarter as dug.

My total take for the day, eight silver coins.

I found this 1942 Republica De Bolivia fifty cent coin not too far from where I picked up the Standing Liberty quarter.

This WWII Army-Navy Production Award Pin is a cool find. I like that the safety clasp is still intact.

The wheat cents aren't in great shape, but I'll take them

HH!

Excellent day to skip out on the yard. I had to mow for three hours and then coach a soccer game. Love reading about your finds, makes up for not being able to swing. I wish they re-did the obverse for the National Park's America the Beautiful quarter program, would have been beautiful to have Standling Liberty looking at you. Congrats :thumbsup01:!!

Ha, yard work, it's over rated  Glad you decided to skip it and find that Reale  Nice bunch of coins there. Even though that park is huge, it must be shrinking by now. Weather was gorgeous. :thumbsup01:

Very nice finds as usual Angel.Got a couple different coins and the service award is in great shape, not too often is the pin still intact.

Sweet stuff Angel! I found one of them E Army Navy pins last year too.. It's the 3rd or 4th such one I've seen in the last two years. Kinda odd because they weren't given out in large amounts. Congrats on that 300 mark too!!

The Bolivian coin isn't silver. I wish it had been though. ;)

Just noticed that Standing Liberty Quarter is an old one. Could be a 1916  Time for some of that acid date restorer. ;)
