…this .58 caliber Minnié ball bullet was fired by a civil war soldier (most likely Union) on the path of Lee's retreat only a couple miles away from Saylar's Creek National Battlefield. This bullet was shot only 3 days before the surrender. My favorite part of this hobby is being able to tell the date of an artifact and to tell who it belonged to. I am glad to be able to tell the exact day this bullet was shot in one of the most historically important events in our country.

Most of the spots I was planning to go to were head-high in vegetation, and it was extremely hot Saturday when I found this.

Thanks BTV... we are lucky down here... I need to find more Civil War type locations to dig at. It'll be easier once I have a car. ;)
