One key barber

My spring and early summer started out VERY slow. Just alot of clad and my normal 150 or so, wheatbacks, but little silver. But there was a few nice ones. Then I came in contact with a fella who told me about a old picnic groove in his family for at least 100 years! I was itching to get at that! Now things are looking better! My last 3 outings were at the groove and an old school which dates back to the 1800's. I managed to come up with 9 silvers. I found 2 Washington quarters, 3 nice Mercs, two Rosies, an old Canadian dime, and then on my last hunt on Wednesday this week, there sure wasn't many targets. It was a very quiet day until I found the best coin I found this year! A key Barber! :happydance02: A 1892S barber dime! My old friend who has been a coin collector for over 40 years said it should grade out somewhere between very fine and extra fine. The redbook has it at $240-$280!!!! Its a mighty fine coin, that just made my day! Things are looking better for this old coin hunter from Dubuque!
KEEP THE COIL TO THE SOIL!:detecting:

Congrats on a great spot to hunt and for getting that low mintage Barber Dime :loveit: It's hard to find "S" mintmarks out my way and even harder to find them in great shape. You did well on that one!!

Barbers are hard to find... let alone in good shape... let alone an 1800s... let alone an "S" mint... let alone a key date!!! Amazing recovery! Do you happen to have any pictures? :clapping:

That's an awesome find. I'm glad to see to see your season is picking up.
How about posting a Pic. I would love to see it.

Wow, congrats on the key Barber Dime, Ron! That was a great find for sure! Maybe that JKress guy can take a picture of it for you.

Congrats on the awesome find! :thumbsup02:

Here are the pictures...

A beauty :smitten:Definitely don't clean it anymore. It is gorgeous. Back looks slightly better than the front. I'm not that good at grading but I would think a solid VF as my guess

Sweet find. I'll be willing to bet that you had a big smile on your mug after digging that Barber. Key dates sure are hard to come by and yours looks great. :thumbsup02:

That is a BEAUTIFUL dime... don't clean any further. The patina is stunning. Excellent coin! :wow:

Nice one Ron!! :thumbsup01:
In such good shape, and a key date? Boy , those go hand in hand!
Usually any key dates I've found are in either so-so shape, or in ho-hum shape.
You got'em both in one! Nice!
Congrats!
