ornate brass pc.

I found this today and was wondering if anyone recognizes what it is. It has a piece in the middle that looks as if it held something. I am only posting this because my hunting buddy found 3 civil war buttons about 25 yards from where I dug this so I thought maybe it's more than just an ornate pc. of brass.

it looks very close to a decorative piece that goes over the burner gallery of an old oil lamp , the slot is where the wick would come through.

Yeah, I was thinking drawer pull but the fact that piece in the middle goes through that it couldn't be used for such. The two holes on the ends looked for where screws would go.

Thanks for the input guys. This will go with my "in between finds" not real good, but not bad either.
