Ornate copper door plate??

I found this early last year and was wondering if ya'll think it is a plate that displays a room number. Haven't cleaned it up, but I think its kinda neat. No idea what I will do with it though. :huh: :cheesysmile:

Looks like maybe it was a door knocker?

Don't think it was a door knocker Donna. It is as thin as a pie pan. The little gizmo in the middle goes with it and I believe it to be the frame for a number or letter. Really surprised it is still intact as thin as it is. Didn't even have to straighten it out at all. thumbsup01

The design looks familiar to me, but I'm not sure how yet... thinking... give me some time and it might come to me. Meanwhile, I bet someone else here hits the nail on the head.

My 2 wheaties is, it looks a lot like it could have been a door marker... but I'm pretty close to oldtimer's desease, so...
