Found this at the site where the battle of Pilot Knob took place in Pilot Knob, MO...

It was on the mountain at the side of the battlefield where the Confederates were holed up at.

If anyone can identify this thing, I sure would appreciate some feedback!

:shocked03: very cool find Zach , i have found many parts but not a whole or most of a gun :clapping: :clapping: very very cool . i wish i knew more on firearms as well so take this with a grain of salt when i say it , i agree with Tony it looks closer to a 1900's era pistol than Civil war era. its just my opinon and again i could be wrong. great relic though :smitten: :smitten:

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

Tony, I believe you are right! They look nearly identical! (Except for the fact that mine has a bit of wear!)

Awesome find zachattack. :clapping: Might not be a CW piece but early 1900's is amazing just the same.
Keep rockin' the 250. :peace:

Awesome find what a piece of history, I am in the military and finding something of this magnitude would be unbelievable to me, the story behind the piece, did the soldier survive, did he make it back to his family? What did he experience.....

:wow:! Great find! When ever I'm diggin something big. I always wait to see a barrel, or a blade. WTG! |:cheering:

Wow, beautiful. I've been relic hunting for almost a year and have yet to find my first gun. Although my neighbor found a flint lock while tilling someones garden. So it'll happen. Congratulations!

I found one almost like that one but mine had a short barrel on it and I found it at an old coal mine not far from where I live.neat find,gj.
