Quick Hunt When The Rain Stops

Late in the day there was (finally!) a break in the rain, so I took advantage and headed to a local park for a quick hunt. Two hours later I had a few keepers to hold me until the next time I get out. lol

It's always a pleasure to see either of these two show up during a hunt. :smitten:

Three more Indian Head cents for the pile, currently standing at 99. :happydance01:

And eight old wheat cents followed as well. Yes, that is yet another 1909 wheat cent, but no 'S'. 8/

Couldn't have gotten too much time in detectin' since the rain seemed to always threaten. >:# Nice haul and that '09 should have an S on it somewheres  lol Nice couple of silvers though :clapping: I don't care if I don't find anything this weekend, I just want to get out :daydream:

:shocked04: You kill me with your finds! :shocked04:stretcher:

Me too! I wish I could find that many good coins in a couple of hours! WOW!

A question for you, Angel: Do you leave your coins in that state, or do you clean them further?

Thanks for the kind words guys.

With coins as the ones above I simply run water over them to remove the surface soil before putting them away. I like the 'natural' look. The silver coins I do make an attempt at cleaning are those having heavy sulfide on them, as was the case with a 1892-S Barber quarter I found early last year.

I do clean all of my Indian Head cents though.

Thanks for the imformative reply, Angel. The improvement on that Barber Quarter is remarkable! I wish I had known about that method 25 years ago when I found my 1808 Spanish Reale. I was young and ignorant and performed some ill-advised cleaning on it to remove the black tarnish. While it still doesn't look terrible, it could have looked a lot better if I hadn't been so aggressive with the cleaning. (Yet I still didn't get all of the black stuff removed.)

The method would likely have worked very well on that Reale. It is still a very nice piece.

Congrats on grabbing those keeper between the raindrops :clapping: Seems like it will never end here >:\ >:\ >:\ >:\

Glad you were able to get out Angel.
More silver and IH's! :clapping:
Your IH count is climbing rapidly. Perhaps you should go
for a thousand of those this year. :thinkingabout:
Congrats.
