Recent California finds

This is my first posting of some finds, I hope it works. I have an area close to home that I've been going to for years. It almost always turns out good. On this hunt I found this coin purse at about 5 inches down and was happy to find a 1943 war nickel and some 193ish wheaties in it. The next day I was cleaning the purse a little more and saw some flaps that I had not checked because of the dirt and mud covering it. I pulled the flap apart a little and saw big silver!! A 1941 walking liberty in excellent shape! It's the 12th silver half dollar from this area!Always looking for other places but this place almost always delivers!

Nice looking cache of coins :clapping: I bet you were glad it wasn't empty lol Nice big silver. Wonder if it was a picnic area :confused:
 
COINNUT,It's a grassy area with a dirt access road between two rows of houses, where kids and people have been walking and playing since 1934.

That's sweet! Love how the purse is still intact... And that's an awesome bonus surprise to find the Walker after the fact thumbsup01

What a fun dig. I have found just a couple of small coin purses... but each has only been filled with dirt. lol
Must have been a real treat to find the WLH the next day.
It's amazing that you have found a total of twelve halves so far from this area.

Thank you all for the reply. My wife thinks I have a nutty hobby, but I find it very relaxing and exciting and frustrating at times.
JKRESS, I have been detecting this area for three years, it's a large area and have been told that the military people carried half dollars as good luck tokens?
STAYDETUNED,I'm located a little north of the golden gate, in novato.
 
Awesome find!!! That would have my heart racing for sure, just seeing that come out of the ground. Congratulations!!!
