Returning a ring?

A few weeks ago I found a gold class ring from 1976 with the initials in it. You would think it would be easy to find the owner since the school is in the district that I work in. Well it has been anything but easy. I actually have a friend and excoworker who was in high school with the guy so he gave me the name from the yearbook. I have spent about 2 hours researching and calling people with no luck. The school has combined with another high school so they were no help, the scool districts office was of no help, there is no alumni association and I can not find the class reunion rep for that year. I even have a contact in law inforcement that used there data base and found nothing. It is a beutifull ring that I hate to scrap out but I have no use for it. Any suggestions on what direction I should go next?

the last ring I found and returned, I found the owner through the town hall where everybody knew everybody, hope this helps thumbsup01

Check with billing at the water dept. Not there? Hey, it is what it is! I probably would hang on to it for a little while. But, sooner or later, after you've done all you can do, ching ching!

Have you looked on Facebook or any of the other social networking sites? :thinkingabout:
We found a owner of a class ring that way once...... I'm not a member, a friend looked it up for me.
But it might be another angle to come from. :dontknow:

A after thought....it might be difficult with only initials

One thought, if you do sell it after exhausting all ways of tracking down the owner is, sell it, and donate a portion to charity. Its a win win. I bet you will feel better about not finding the owner. Happy Hunting!!
