Rev war button, Spanish silver, anchor rosette, and 29 buttons!

This past Friday I had one of my best hunts in about 3 years. Hit a very remote cellar deep in the RI woods, it was about a 2 mile hike from my car to the site. The area has over a dozen colonial cellar holes (which I have done well at in the past), but I apparently missed this site on previous trips. Like the rest of the sites, it had been hit but not very hard at all. There were old pits near the cellar hole, likely from a long ago bottle digger. Whoever they were, they also left behind a rusting away shovel, it’s definitely been there a while. Also saw some more recent dig holes but they must not have been very good, it appears they didn’t do much detecting other than right around the cellar hole.:happydance01: After only a few minutes at the site I had 3 buttons, I knew I was onto a good spot. I then get a bouncy signal, figure it’s another button but it turns out to be my first half real this year. It’s in rough shape, appears to have been in a fire but I’m not complaining. :grin: About an hour later, I dig what I believe to be my first ever revolutionary war continental navy button! Looks like whoever lived here was a rev war vet. Shortly after, I dig what I think is a rosette, and this also happens to have an anchor on it. Any help on this item is appreciated. Overall, I dug a personal best of 29 buttons in about 3 hours of swinging. One of my best days detecting in a long time. I’ll be back to this spot soon.
PS. I made some decent finds between the last time I posted on here and this hunt. I'll show those in a different post.

AWESOME finds! Wow! I wonder if the person was a navy vet from the Revolution. Is that a domed tombac button in the upper right? How a bout a pic of the back? I find a lot of those over here and they are off the French soldiers' gators (the legging that covers the boot). Late 1600's to 1700's. Great haul and I'm hoping you find lots more! HH, Dave.

I am a button freak! I would rather dig an old button more than almost anything else. I thought I would be able to ID the anchor button for you but I can't find one like it in any of my books or in any online references. What does the back look like?
Oh yeah, don't even get me started on the anchor rosette or pin because I can't find anything like it either. Hopefully someone will ID them and I can learn from that.

Buttons with clothe

Found several buttons at this site that still had clothe attached to them. I think the Tombac has the most clothe attached out of any button I’ve ever found. I believe it was in a spill with the dandy button and another one of the smaller cuff sized buttons.

Nothing on the back and an un-fouled (no rope that I can see) anchor on the front. I only found a few plain anchors buttons and none anywhere close to this one. I will keep looking. It looks like there might be a border around the button, maybe a rope one?

That was one helluva hunt! 29 buttons is an incredible day! I too have found thread/cloth on the backs of some of my buttons, which was amazing that it lasted well over 100 years like that.

I graduated last May! Although I am planning on attending Law School starting in the Fall of 2020.
