Well I couldn't wait for my usual gold smith tomorrow, so I found one that was open today and found out that the ring was real 14kt gold but the stones were fake! boy what a let down! he said if they would have been real it would have appraised at between 5 and 6 thousand dollars.

That's unfortunate about the stones but still a very nice find. I wonder if more effort would have been put into finding the ring if the stones were real. :thinkingabout:

Don't be too disappointed. It's RARE that any gold ring has diamonds nowadays. Out of the dozen or so so called diamond rings I've found this year, 10K, 14K 18K - none have real diamonds. And even if they were real, any normal diamond under a 1/2 carat, is only worth about a dollar a point. (point = 1/100 carat). So a 1/4 carat or 25 points would be about 25 bucks. I know I'll get flack on this, but that's the real world value. You made a great find for the gold value!
