Shark attack

I recently bought a ground shark shovel for digging in the woods. Today i took it out and used it.
I got a really nice sound and had to crank on it to get through the (still) frozen ground in the woods.
Unfortunatly it gouged up the 1919-D walker that was in the hole (full of water) I had dug.
Still a nice find. Also got a shiney nickel.

Still a nice recovery under tough conditions. Plus you get style points for gouging it right across the radial line. I've never gouged one that evenly.

Congrats if that really is a 1919D, except "ouch!!!" That specific one was worth quite a bit. Lower end would be around $38 for poor condition. I think your pull tab is more shiny than the nickel...

Always nice finding big silver. I must admit, in more than 35 years of metal detecting that's the biggest, deepest gouge I've ever seen. Shame it had to be an early walker. The late ones are common. Prior to 1923 they are a bit scarce coming out of the ground. I'm jealous you can even dig. No such luck around my part of NY.

Well... I did one almost as deep and big on a hunt with you Don... on a beautiful Barber Quarter... Boy... That feels wrong !

But anyway RaZR, very nice silver, congrats. I have yet to find a Walker !

Don, we're almost there !!! Spring is now definitely on its way... It seems... It may be... Damn... Who knows with this Winter???
