short hunt yields silver football

With the off and on again rains I only got to hunt for a little bit this afternoon. I really wanted to get out though so I just waited it out and went back to a school I had already hunted 2 or 3 times before. I figured I would try the field instead of the general play area grass. It was slow going at first and I had to get under some trees a few times to get out of the rain. I was finding some coins, nothing spectacular. At one point I noticed this kid heading toward this one corner of the fence and noticed a gate so I thought oh, that's the walking path to get in here so I started hunting that path. I found a few coins then I got a different signal and found this little football.
It just seemed like and ordinary trinket so I threw it in my bag and moved on. I washed it when I got home and noticed it said 1945 Champions on it and I just figured it was a toy or something. But when I turned it over to see if I could see who made it I found that it says STERLING :peace: The picture isn't very clear and the S is too faint but it's definately Sterling. :clapping: I weighed it and it weighs 5.2 Grams !! <: What the heck, I never knew they made such a thing. This is too cool..... :cheering:
Plus I found the top of a ring. ?? and the bottom of a Matchbox car. ??
3 quarters, 5 dimes, 1 nickel, 12 pennies, 21 coins

Neil, I think its a Cleveland Rams NFL championship charm. I have seen a 1940s Chicago Bears one recently that was very similar.

Nice charm :clapping: That also means that area is old enough to have some silver coins too. Looks like you may need to revisit that place from time to time

That's what I thinking too. The school isn't that old, maybe only from the mid 60's but I think that kids take stuff to school to show their friends and loose it.
