Show your oldest, nicest coin and where you found it

Was wonering what everyone's oldest, but nicest coin is. I have a 1723 Hibernia, but it's trashed lol But this 1746 George II is beautiful. It came from an old cellar hole that doesn't usually produce readable coppers. But this one was right on the lip of the cellar hole.

Wow, that is a beautiful copper. Nothing comes out like that around here. This is my best looking one, I think -- it looks better in person, trust me :cheesysmile: (its just dirt, tho it looks like rust in the pic for some reason, but there is still alot of detail in the hair. I'm debating some h2o2 on it as we speak).

Anyway, I found it it the ruins of an old (1700s) house in the woods. 1.5 inches deep was all it was. Found a half cent at the same site -- keep going back for the bust silver, but so far, no dice

This is not my oldest, but I think its one of the best looking coins I have found.About 2 inches deep.

I found it at a fair grounds thats dated 1873. :drool:
She was about 5 or 6 inches deep. thumbsup01

My oldest is this toasted and holed 1723 hibernia Half Penny, but my nicest coin would be the 1832 Large Cent. The picture of this large cent hardly does any justice to the awesome detail. The 1723 I found at one of Daves sites, and the 1832 came out of a colonial yard.

The nicest old coin I have found is a 1773 Spanish Reale. It looks as if it had been lost soon after being minted. I have found older coins, including a 1724 Hibernia, but this one is by far the best looking one. I found it on a dirt path heading into the woods. On that path, and near it, I also found several large cents and silver coins, including a 1803 large cent and a 1899 half dollar.

My nicest oldest coin is an 1822 large cent. I found it in a field at a school built in 1959. I have found one older coin (an 1804 1/2 cent) but it wasn't in great shape.

Well this is not my oldest but it is my first and by far my best Halfpenny.Back in 2003 when I just putzed around any where and wasn't sure what I wanted to find I uncovered this coin.Well this beauty fueled the fire and it has been Colonial coins and relics that I search for now.My oldest coin is a 1690's William farthing but it is pretty worn.

1730 George II Halfpence.
Recovered next to an old colonial cemetery in the woods,standing on edge 8 deep.I remember it like it was this morning.

Here's one of mine...Not my oldest, but still an old coin. I found it in a freshly plowed field here in California a few years ago.
It's an 1834/3 gold Half Escudo from Mexico.

whooo whooo. All these coins are SWEET lol lol Some really nice, quality finds can still be made. They don't all have to be slugs like some of the coins we find here in New England. Sometimes you can still get lucky :cheesysmile:

1833 LC, found just last week with my new XLT :smitten: In Jessamine County, Kentucky next to an old farmhouse built in 1865.

1788 vermont copper
1803 draped bust with several die flaws
1827 matron head
all found at cellar holes thumbsup01

How do you know when a coin is/was uncirculated? Your 1827 matron head is so perfect, flawless!

uncirculated would have mint luster and no wear on it.
this maybe just entered circulation when it was lost.may have been in only a few vest pockets before it met its demise.

lol lol You have no idea how intricate it can be :yes: We just touch on the basics here about coins. If you ever want to get real serious with them, there are specific books that will put you to sleep fast rofl Everything matters, no matter how small or insignifigant
