Silver And Wheat Cents

Today I had a chance to spend a few hours detecting at a town green, a treat during this time of year since the ground can be frozen by now. I had been concentrating on picking up a few Indian Head cents, but wheats and silver kept getting in the way. :eyebrow: lol The wheat cents are in very bad shape though. The soil at the site is harsh on them, so any Indian Head cents that may be found there will likely be in poor shape too. In any case, it was a pleasure to see some of the shiny disks pop out of that tough soil. I'm hoping to be able to detect Saturday afternoon so I can give the site another try. :yes:

No doubt about it, I would take a Barber Quarter over Indian Heads any day! thumbsup01 lol

That Barber is really sharp! The 1917 Merc looks like it would clean up nicely too!

Another great hunt for you, Angel! Most of us have been very fortunate to be able to hunt during this mild winter. I can't wait to see what you find on Saturday!
:->

:wow:! Beautiful Quarter! Weird how the Merc is so stained and the quarter is in such pristene condition :thinkingabout: WTG!!

Yeah, I know what you mean. :yes: There is just something about seeing the obverse of a Barber quarter while it is in the hole that grabs you. :smitten:

It's not that unusual to dig up silver coins from the same location in varying conditions. :yes: I do love how nice the Barber quarter came out of the ground. I'm also glad that it ended up in my pouch and not someone else's. lol The photo above is of the coin after applying coin conditioner. Below is one I took after digging it up. :yes:
