Digger Don

New member
Went out today after work and hit one 1890s house. When I started ,I felt confident that this house would produce some oldies.
Well, it took an hour and a half, but I finally got a decent signal and dug a no date SLQ. My first of the year.
It's really worn, but I don't care. It made my day.

I also dug one wheat, a 1945. and a 1937 Buff

Dude! That's a Type I SLQ too, so it's either 1916 or 1917. There is a way to tell if it's a 1916 or 1917. If JD's Coins was here he could probably tell you. (A 1916 is worth some big bucks, even in low grade.)

You are on fire, Don!

No Kidding. The owner of the home was watching me, so I was digging small diameter holes. MY BAD
That SUCKS!!!!! I hate when they do that, lately I've been lucky that the owners would leave me alone. Sorry for coming off as mean by the way

I read that one way to tell a 16 from a 17 is by the fold in the gown next to the left leg. Honestly, they both look the same to me.
Here's a closer look6-02-15-2 002.jpg6-02-15-2 003.jpg

After some research and photo comparisons, It looks like a nicely worn 1917

Are you sure that's a 1917? I'm no expert but I would have said it looks more like a 1916. Just a guess though....

Congratulations either way!
