Spur of the moment hunt at the 1600's farm fields

One of the fields at the 1600's farm was recently plowed. I hadn't been out in a while so I called my buddy to see if he wanted to give a go. Naturally he agreed considering that we had scored 8 old coppers in our 3 previous hunts on this property.

It was great to get out again and take in the beautiful scenery on this property and I was also looking forward to trying out my White's Mxt Pro that I just picked up. I bought a used model that supposedly was only used twice and by the looks of it's pristine condition it looks like it may have only been used for a few hours. I have only ever hunted with the White's M6 but the transition to the MXT Pro was easy as pie. Anyway, I threw on the 12 coil flipped the machine into relic mode two tone ID and off I went.

We were not sure what to expect in finds on this plowed field and after two hours of hunting all we had to show for our efforts were three buckles, an old flat button with a wreath back mark that I found at the end of the hunt. OH... I almost forgot about the silver 5 cent piece I uncovered about 6 inches down. It surprised me because it sounded like a penny and it is very small. It's about 14.50 MM and is smaller than a half dime. Hoping to get back here tomorrow since we had to cut the hunt short today.

I was hoping that maybe Del or someone could ID the button. Thanks and Happy hunts...

Sweet find!
Congrats!
I'm still looking for my first half dime...of any sort. :envious:

yes very nice fish scale Thiltzy |:cheering: |:cheering: the button looks like it is a basket weave type design a common design from the late 1700's to very early 1800's and the wreath stamped backmark is very common from 1790's to 1815.

Not to bad being it was your first hunt with the MXT. Nice fishscale, got one myself last sunday. They are small and thin. :congrats: on all your keepers and I hope todays hunt goes well.
