Sterling Silver Markmans Medal

Went out on a chily hunt on Thursday and found a nice Sterling Medal that I believe is an Army Marksman Medal. Also on the hunt I picked up a few Wheats, 2 Mercs and a 1906 "o" Barber Dime.

Congrats on the O mint mark barber! Those are a bit rare up north. I wonder how old the medal is?

Nice finds. Bet that medal really sounded sweet! Not many O mint Barbers around for sure. What's that token looking piece at the top left?

Actually it was fairly deep and rang up in the 12-43 range. Definitely did not sound like silver. The Token is a pitching cage token I believe. WD

I meant to add this photo but forgot. It has a makers mark and the word sterling followed by GI

I found one of those medals a few months ago and had to turn it over to the people I'm working for...I don't recall it being silver...it had the rifle still attached. :dontknow: Does yours have silver markings? Great job on all the keepers!

Being a former Marine, we had three different marksman medals. Expert, Sharpshooter and Marksman. Our Sharpshooter looked like yours. The two rings at the bottom would be for year hanger, 1 year, two year an so on.

Very cool finds. I thought at first that the two eyelets may have been for a ribbon, but they are for the weapon useddownload.jpg
