Stuart Crystal Button

Went detecting at one of my friends Isaac's farmfields and pulled out an exceptionally rare button, according to Dan it's a Stuart Crystal button from the 1690s. I don't know a whole lot about the button, so if anybody has an input or any additional information on it I would highly appreciate it!

I can't see the photo, but looked them up as I have never heard of them before. Looks to me like anything Stuart Crystal is extremely pricey such as earring set for $1500, mourning slide for $5500, buttin for $950, and so forth. Great find!

I have never been lucky enough to find a complete link, but have found 3 individual buttons at three different sites, and I will gladly take them. Here's 2 and the 3rd is as good. The strange part is these were likely owned by early French here because all were found at mixed sites (French, Loyalist and British) but it's just the French which date early enough to be carrying something from the 1600s.

If memory of history serves, I think many of the supporters at the time were in danger of jail and/or execution themselves. So in the name of self preservation many relocated or went on extended "vacations" outside the British Isles. If that's correct, I can imagine some of those went to France and either they or their descendants eventually came here bringing valued items with them such as those buttons.

Indeed!
I'm so happy for you!!! So glad you recovered such a cool piece of history and were able to come hunt with me! That is an amazing piece of jewelry!

Thanks Isaac! I'd like to thank you for making it all possible! Thanks for being generous enough to let me try your site.
