Taft campaign button, Mercs

Got out for a couple of hours this morning and made a few finds, the most interesting of which was a William Howard Taft 1908 campaign button. It's very light...made of tin. Taft was groomed to be Teddy Roosevelt's successor for the Republican party in 1908 and I guess since Roosevelt had a nickname (Teddy Bear) they felt that Taft needed one too and apparently they decided on "Billy Possum". Flattering, eh? I've included a pic I found on the Net of what a shiny new one would look like. Also found twin '44 Mercs, some buckles, a brass doorknob and the label off of a 1925 HP Hood milk can. Gosh I hope this wasn't my last hunt of the year today. :( Winter is on it's way!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Yes, it's snowing now. Good thing you got when you did and made those nice finds. Really like the political button. I am also hoping that this will not be your last hunt of the year. :congrats:on your finds.

HP hood. You musta been close to my way. Nice score on the token. Never knew that about Taft. Some silver and I like that ornate door knob. Never found crunk with style to it.

That Taft campaign button is a terrific find! :wow:

I've never seen one like it. What a great piece of 100+ year old American history!

:congrats:

Nice finds. The political button has more substance than those today. Nice silver too. Hope it's not your last hunt for the year. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving.
