the day's catch...silver, LC, and IH

Went hunting at an old 1800s farm site that is now a plowed field. Spent most of the time taking the tin and iron scrap out of the virgin site, but I did end up with a sterling thimble that got a little beat up by the plow, a 1864 IH (my oldest IH yet), a large cent with a hole (too rough to read the date), and some other relics including a British tool make's emblem.
Will head back tomorrow if the rain stays away.

Wow! Those are some great coins and relics! It looks like you are onto a really old site that holds lots of promise! I love the silver thimble, and that's a really old Indian Head! Nice! The large cent might be holed but it looks like it still has some detail on it. The date is there, just really hard to read.

There is a 90% chance of rain tomorrow :-\ but Sunday looks much better!

Congrats on the terrific finds! :clapping:

You got yourself some great keepers. You also got something that has eluded me for many years and that is the silver thimble. I worked an old farm from the 1830's for about 2 years. It was alway my go to spot. Keep going back and then go back again, etc. I managed many LC's, 7 seated, barbers, mercs, a rosie, IH I lost count, 2 cent piece. Keep going back. Congrats on all the finds

good job sorting thru the trash to get the treasures! nice coins and i love that silver thimble. holed or not, the LC is a real good one , and that IH aint bad either! good job!! <:

Nice thimble :smitten: Take a look at that IH for an L.

thanks!!...i looked for the L and saw what appears to be the top part of the letter, but the coin is worn enough that LIBERTY is barely visible. i'll look closer after cleaning.

Thanks!! The thimbles are out there, you'll come upon one soon because every home had one, a lot were silver. Found the other shown in the pic about 3 years ago. It dates 1890s, not sure about the latest thimble's date, probably the same period.
Too bad it was damaged...wasn't me, I'm innocent :angelic:
