The Eagle has Landed (almost)

I receivedd an email from the restorer, Leonard Short. He informed me that the eagle hat plate was complete and he emailed me some pictures. These new photos were taken in natural sunlight. The end result is fantastic, I am thrilled with the outcome and glad that I decided to have it restored.
I should have it in my possession in about a week. Once I have it, I will have it appraised and then send in to WE&T for a Best Finds submission.

This was originally recovered on Aug 22nd and posted that day.

:congrats: that is a beautiful specimen of history. Great job with the find & deciding to get it restored. Any one of us would be proud to own such a fine ornament. thumbsup01

Hi Al: I haven't posted or even been here the past couple months, but seeing your find made me have to post. Its beautiful! Does the guy that restored it do buttons? I found a Massachusetts Artillery button in pretty good shape. I'm afraid to do anything to it. I must have missed your post when you found it. Congrats. :)

That's amazing! What a historic keepsake! I think I read about his work in one of the magazines, amazing know how and patience to do that!

OMG, what an amazing restoration! You sure he didn't swipe that one from the Smithsonian and just say he had restored yours?? Congrats on having such a great piece of American history.
