They've Lost Their Marbles!!

And now we have them! lol
Before my time the game of marbles was very popular. I've talked to, and heard stories from my parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and others about playing the game. I've heard the stories of their marble collections. The shooters, boulders, and the peewees. While growing up I remember seeing a marble here or there and never payed no mind to them. :dontknow: I sure wish I had all of those now. :daydream: In the last few years of metal detecting and roaming around the different forums I've seen lots and lots of marbles that have been found during detecting trips, digging bottle dumps and privy digs. My first season I didn't come across any. Late in my second year while digging a target I found one in my dirt plug! :shocked04:  thumbsup01 And I found a couple more that season. So I had a little collection going. Last season found a few more. One I found while digging a penny signal that turned out to be a silver ring! :shocked01: :peace: I even found one at work one day! I know some can be quite collectable as well! But from what I understand you've really got to know what your looking for!
I thought it would be cool to see some of the marbles that our members have come across in their adventures  thumbsup01 And if we have any marble collectors or experts here maybe they can point out some good ones, or rare ones. :)

I'll get it started. Here's the 8 marbles I've got so far in my collection! Well ...8 ½ marbles! lol

What have you folks found? :->

Great idea for a thread, Tim! I always get a kick out of finding a marble while metal detecting. Here are the ones I found last year, including one that is made out of clay:

Here are the few I have found. The big one was given to me by my grandmother when I was a child. She told me she played with it when she was a child. I'm sure its not worth anything except to me. Its beat up pretty good too.

Great idea Tim! here is my contribution. The large one is made of clay, I'm sure it is pretty old. It was found in a field that once housed an old one room school.

I think that one is what they call a &quot:beerbuddy:ennington. Many of them are glazed blue or brown, but I've seen other colors as well. I think they're from the late 1800s. Nice marble!

Here are some I have found .The large one in the front row was given to me by a good friend . It was found in a San Francisco building demo we were hunting . I have more around here someplace .

Thanks Tony! I like the little cobalt blue one  thumbsup01 I think it'd be so cool to find a old clay one! A buddy found one while we were detecting last year. Just minutes after I found this one while digging up a little wheat spill. thumbsup01
